Here at Optical Zone, the doctors are trained beyond basic primary eyecare.
The doctors are trained to provide comprehensive medical care. We routinely diagnose and treat problems related to dry eye, allergies, diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration.
We do a thorough Plano Optometrist exam that starts with a comprehensive medical history and preliminary testing where tests such as depth perception, color vision, eye muscle balance, peripheral vision, eye pressure testing (non-contact tonometry) and many others are performed. The doctor will perform a refraction to determine precisely your prescription and the type of lenses and coatings that will maximize your visual performance. In addition, the doctor will use a slit lamp biomicroscope to evaluate the front surface from your tear film to the back surface of your eyes; your retina to determine the status of your ocular health; and what steps you can take to maximize the health of your eyes.
We also fit a variety of contact lenses, soft disposable, rigid gas permeable and toric lenses (to correct astigmatism). In addition, we can do specialty fittings for those patients that have had surgery for Lasik or kerataconus.
We have available to us modern diagnostic equipment such as corneal topography to assist us in these complex fittings.
Feel free to contact us if you have special needs or have had problems in the past with wearing contacts. We will strive to improve your contact lens wearing experience.

- Digital Retinal Photography
Annual eye exams are vital to maintaining your vision and overall health. We offer digital retinal photography as an additional test to your eye examination.
- Sports Eyewear
Sports eyewear is essential to protect your eyes. Some of the most dangerous sports that are more prone to eye injuries include basketball, baseball, racquetball, shooting and paintball.
Sports specific eyewear will not only enhance your performance and enjoyment of the sport, but also keep you safe. This is especially important with children who are developing their skills and are more prone to these type of injuries.
